Is it the force feedback or non-force feedback model? I have both and have used both with (most) of the X games. Usually if you are having a centering issue, you turn up the deadzone , not down. X3TC has settings in the control profile/options for adjusting the deadzone (threshold to start turning) ...

If you are not able to acquire an M3 (preferably a Nova because of the cargo space, rear turret, and shielding), then I would recommend trading the Buster in for a Boron Mako. In X2, the Mosquito anti-missile system never worked well enough for my tastes to make up for the Buster's (or Buzzard's, Fa...

I disagree with the characterization that it's superficial and faked; if you have ever seen the effects of a Xenon Q blockade between two sectors that have factories that depend on one another in some way, you know it is not faked or simulated. Furthermore, the only factory I can think of that does ...

I wouldn't say it has a blind spot, but if you time your attack with other M4+ or better fighters, you stand a better chance of destroying the Kha'ak-vette before any one ship in the group is destroyed. I pulled this off flying a Mamba Vanguard and timing my attack to begin with that of two Terracor...

Well, as realistic as cattle ranches in space :) The economy gets better in Reunion where the addition stations with larger inventories but the same price range means that prices vary less as a function of changes in absolute magnitude. Also, the NPCs are structured differently in Reunion; rather th...

You could check out this page and scroll down until you see "Graphics". As it pertains to X2, I can't guarantee that all (external) links are still alive.

Get a freightscanner and a lot of missiles and make it your sole quest to hunt down every one of those SOBs and make them pay for flying around with the PBG. Also, if you are not averse to modding or using a mod, there's at least one ( CMOD 4 ) mod that adjusts the PBG damage. I saw an Argon patrol ...

I stand corrected about the X52 Pro: for Terran Conflict, I had to use the profile editor to get use the 4-way hat on the throttle. Otherwise, the game treated the 4-way hat on the throttle as the same as the main POV hat on the stick. Specifically, I set up the throttle hat to emulate some keypress...

Welcome, There is a flight school instructor near where you start, although it only goes over the very basics. I would recommend that you ignore the missions at first and get used to the controls, orienting yourself in space, targetting ships, and manipulating the weapons and cargo on your ship. Che...

As you can only view the sector map with the tactical navigation extension and you can only identify stations on the navigation extension that you have already targeted, you may do best by learning to visually identify different factories at a distance. A good resource for this would be Argonopedia ...

X-Tension is worth it for the combat, in my opinion. The ships have more inertia and so dogfighting requires careful maneuvering to avoid ending up in someone's sights. Additionally, without turrets or Mosquito Missile Defense, you have to dodge missiles and without the laser targeting computer, you...

Well, even with nice aerodynamics, simply trying to turn and burn is wasteful because you can end up in a low energy state and plus, just because you can put 35G on the airframe doesn't mean you should. Of course, aerodynamics don't apply in space but I don't think I've ever been in a dogfight in X2...

I second the opinion of Wasp and Thunderbolt missiles. Wasps are especially useful because: a) they're cheap, b) they can take out the fast enemies that the AI is otherwise incapable of dealing with well in-sector (usually by expending all of their energy at maximum range with HEPTs, and c) they don...

I had played the X-Wing series and other space sims and found X2 through a "related games" feature on Gamespot while looking for space sims. The review wasn't flattering, but I'm shallow and the graphics were certainly pretty enough and so I checked out the demo. I was hooked when I played the demo....

Picking up where I left off
Just found my old X2 savegames from my first playthrough on a CD-R of old savegames. The saves covered the time around the end of the storyline including the last mission; great joy! Unfortunately, I'll have to restructure the work done by old-me. Old-me had an SPP outside of a loop (unprofitable) a...
