You cannot use 5:1 or 7:1 Realtek settings with TC & Vista. If you open the Realtek HD Config console and you have the latest driver, then you should be able to set the Speakers, Speaker Config to Quadraphonic, uncheck the surround speakers as 'Full-range Speakers' (to prevent bass overload rattles)...

I wonder if you captured any of the Pirate/Merc M6s by boarding. You can get some strange sector aggro if any of the following happen: a. A sector ship collides with or near-misses one of your marines. b. After the captured ship turns green, one of its shots already on the way hits a sector ship/sta...

Thanks for all the clarification. It is odd that the mission has timed out every time I (and Andy Barrett) get within targetting/comms range of the ship - even when it has only just returned. Those of you who have had missions from it, were you already friends with the Yaki and was the ship blue to ...

Yep, I've done a similar catastrophic load instead of save. Mind you I have also done the odd save instead of a load! I have now trained myself to use shift L or S rather than use the mouse. I would be happier to use the mouse if the save and load were at opposite ends of the sidebar though.

If you destroy the carrier, its deployed ships cruise off slowly without pilots but don't seem to be able to be claimed, even with the software. You can shoot them with no rep loss and they may bail normally (blue-red-blue, no astronaut though). If you destroy them, they sometimes drop loot - still ...

TC 2.0a Yaki Ship Waiting in Belt of Aguilar?

Vanilla English DVD TC at 2.0a, Terran Def start, done Terran, Goner, most of FF and Hub plots - not started Aldrin plot. I frequently see a Yaki Susanowa, enemy to me, with a red fight mission symbol above it when I enter Belt of Aguilar for JSDD missions. As soon as my ship gets anywhere near it o...

In my experience, enabling Creative SVM dynamically varies the amplifications of the various sound sources to give them equal output volume (or can make one source over-ride another if they clash). This rather negates the purpose of the separate in-game settings for voice, effects and music. If you ...

You can see from my earlier posts above that I have been trying to work through this problem, however it has now effectively broken my game. I agree with Cisor that it is getting more frequent with use and has indeed infected savegames as there are now sectors that I cannot enter from recent saves w...

I was just conjecturing that a lot of Windows updates have taken place since 2.0 came out, and also releases of card driver uipdates (video and sound). We remember 2.0 release clearly as a long-awaited event but do not necessarily recall the little 'background activity completed' flags that mean som...

We'd need a lot more replies to establish a common theme, but say the issue was found to be commonly linked with a Creative soundcard driver issue when >2Gb is enabled. Could it be something as simple as say the driver itself not being >2Gb enabled? Could that easily be tested or rectified using som...

Ok, I'm happy to pursue the misbehaving driver theory. I wonder if there's a common theme for those experiencing just the random sector entry slow-down issue in Vista x64. Creative X-Fi soundcard drivers perhaps?

Just to add to the info pool. I've had the exact same problem only 2 or 3 times on Vista x64 since TC 2.0a (everything slows to 1 frame every ~2 secs) when entering a sector. It seems to occur completely randomly and lags everything else on the PC (even Task Manager) until you can somehow kill TC. L...

No, it just looks just like a common mini-superfreighter design with both tanks and containers, although a superfreighter it definitely is not! It's normally called Pirate Freight Transporter and roams around escorted by Blastclaws and Elites. It changes its name to Pirate Ship (and gets bugged) whe...

OK, sorry to hear that. It seems then that your issue is that ALchemy will not run on your rig rather than that it will not work with TC as your first post implies. If you ever have the inclination, try the latest ALchemy (Mar/Apr 09?) and see if that runs for you. If not, then good luck and thanks ...

@ arcana75: I'm sure you did all this with ALchemy, but just to be sure... ALchemy can be set to run either on the TC registry entry or on the TC .exe file (not the game folder as you say above). Run the ALchemy application in the Creative\ALchemy folder to get the user interface and 'add' TC to the...

Er... why should you assume that? Logically, the time for the mission should click on normally until either you report the findings or you time-out. The employer won't know that you've just scanned the last asteroid or give you more time just to admire the scenery on the way back to report. Edit: By...

Do an advanced search for author's name Munger on this forum. I posted on his thread on 16 Jan 09 and there is advice there on getting Alchemy to work OK with TC and Vista (it works for me). I note there are quite a few threads on Vista and ATI card problems recently. Perhaps it's time for a Mod to ...
