The specs just released very specifically say windows 7.

My guess is it should do, I have yet to encounter a Windows 7 compatible Steam game that does not run under Windows 8.

If I were to guess, the OS specs are just based on what platforms it has been tested on rather than specific design limitations (except perhaps the 64-bit Windows requirement)

I agree I have had no issues with Windows 8 not running anything, In fact I think it runs better in my opinion!

I see no reason why it shouldn't, but I also see no reason why it wouldn't have been listed on the system requirements page either.

I am just looking for confirmation so when I rebuild my pc to windows 8 I don't cause my own issue.

essentialy windows 8 == windows 7 with better memory management

so stuff does run a *bit* faster, especialy 64 bit stuff.

i'm ignoring integrated GUI as i don't consider that to be a part of an OS.

IMO don't bother with windows 8. 7 is fantastic, use it while you can. Not to turn this into a battle of OS's, but if they continue down the route of streaming software instead of locally run software, it's time to head to ubuntu, linux, or something else.
