Holy smoke, what did i do O.o (FPS Spike)
Game version: 64 Beta

Right, this is my first post ever on steam and here on the egosoft forum, i am here a while, but never bothered with posting anything. So be gentle trolls :P

I soooo dont want to call this a fix, but lets get to the gravy fast.

First of my pc. I am running an AMD FX 5320 but only six cores active OC to 4200 at 1.27 cpu voltage (keeps it nice an cool at 28 to 59 under heavy load). Geforce 650ti boost 1gb. 8 gig of ram at 1333. Low cost asus motherboard (my hamster has better stats than that thing so i wont bother you). Running Windows 8.1 with latest updates, oh and latest beta driver from Nvidia.

Its not a beast of a machine, but it gets the job done. Most games i run at 1360x768 on my 50in. HD TV ... i am not a big 1080p guy i prefer to have all special effects on max then a high resolution.

.... sorry so much for getting to the gravy fast ...

anyhow ... i tryed everything and anything (the voodoo ♥♥♥♥ with the goat set of my wife, my son didnt know what to do with the head -.-)

the bloody game would not run .... sorry let me rephrase that ... CRAWL .... (15 - 22 fps max) playable ... but very very very slowwwwww ... 2.10 made it better but i still didnt want to play

and than i just deactivated the my virtual memory ............................ O.o ..... got 30 to 60 fps saw it once dip to 28 when i left the highway ... WTF ... i mean i tried everything, and THAT solved my problem ... how is that even possible ... oh and by the way the bloody game sits on an fast ssd drive, so does the virtual memory ....

can anyone with performance problems try this as well please and let me know, i swear to god i did nothing else ....

So long a very confused gamer ...

oh sorry i didnt say where i cant this ... thats the wierd part ... the windows virtual memory ... (you should have at least 8gig if you want to trie this as it might impact your pc in a negative way)

go under control panel ----- system ----- advanced system settings ----- advanced ------ under performance you find virtual memory ... set it to deactivate ...

thats all i did and i got the fps spike ... i dont get it at all O.o

Didn't see any changes.
How big an improvement are you seeing? What are your specs?

HOLY DAMN! This part of the forum is for the release versions of the game, not betas, so I figured I might aswell pitch in and try it on my rig to see if 32bit saw any difference aswell... it was ENORMOUS.

PC: cheap and old AMD 3.4GHz quad, Geforce GTX 660, 16GB DDR3

Normal swapfile: 60 fps on medium graphics, medium distance, fresh load in very sparsely populated area. Entering dense population zones brings the fps down to 20 and leaving for almost empty space the fps went back up but never all the way, stayed low. Flying either way between HoA shipyard and RoC shipyard resulted in permanet framerate cap of 30 and EVRRYTHING slows to a crawl, the stutter is so unbearable that dogfights are near impossible until saving and completely exiting the game and then loading it again.

NO swapfile: Set graphics to Ultra, 1080p, 8x AA... Framerate is almost constantly at 60, in very heavy areas it still drops low of course but gets back up in no time immediately upon leaving, I just now let autopilot take me RoC shipyard >> HoA shipyard >> RoC shipyard and the game slows as usual in heavy areas but is running GREAT the second I leave them! Stutter is down to almost nothing, the only incredible ultralag I find is the trade list and certain camera angles in Exhaustless Mines! Even the near dead trading in Albion (300+ hours can do that) seemed to start working again! :D

Could you guys post DX-diags + short description on wether disabling the pagefile helped improve framerate?
Also please mention which exe-version you tried (preferably a 2.20RC*-version) and if it was the 32bit or 64bit exe.

We'd like to compare some system specs to see if we can figure out on what machines (or operating-system) it helped on on which it didn't.

Thanks!

If you've found the way to get this game finally with a descent/good framerate, you are forgiven 10000 times, old chaps :D !

Nothing changed. Still sitting at 25 fps everywhere.

EDIT : i've might miss the manipulation, as far as when i've set back my parameters, he didn't ask me to reboot, or even apply.

I got some serious FPS drop after 2.2. Then tried your method and disabled the virtual memory. And... holly argnu! It actually works! :D

It should ask you for a restart. I know it did for me.

Oh wow, noticed a big improvement. Was even able to throw everything up to max with excellent results. I have no idea how you stumbled across this but you sir are a hero.

On:
GTX 680
AMD FX-8350 @ 4.6GHz
16GB DDR3 RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
64bit .exe

Had to try this.

Notable fps boost from 15-40 to roughly 30-55 in space. Didn't expect this.

GPU usage in windowsed mode averages about 80% now.

Radeon 7970 (1100/1500)
I7-3770k @4.4GHz
16GB (1600MHz)
Windows 7 Professional 64bit

Seemed to go up from 15-20 FPS in a relatively crowded area to closer to 25-30, much to my surprise.

I've gone back to normal now, but can always test further if needed.

Radeon 6950 2GB
i5-2500k @3.30GHz
8GB DDR3 @1600MHz
Windows 7 Home 64bit
64bit .exe
