[7.0 Beta 4] - Fresh installation will not load start menu

Setup a new PC and loading X4 from scratch cannot get the start menu to load.

Reverting to 6.20 does allow the start menu to launch.

This usually happens when people have mods installed that are not compatible with 7.00. That's one of the reasons why we advise people to try the Public Beta only with unmodified games and why it's a key piece of information that we ask people to provide when posting reports in this forum. This is a fresh install. No mods are cuurently subscribed. I also removed the Egosoft folder from the Documents folder.

When you say you "can't get the start menu to load" what do you actually mean? Does the game launch? Do you see the intro videos? Does the start menu background scene appear but not the menu?

Please also perform a file verification using the Steam client, and make sure that it didn't automatically install any subscribed mods.

No menu at top left when loaded. In 6.20 this works just fine.

That definitely looks like the case caused by mods. Again, perform a file verification and check that no mods have sneaked into your fresh installation.

Just so I can check what otherlocation would mods be under. I checked the Egosoft extensions and it's empty.

Mods can be in the extensions sub-folder of the game itself (official expansions are also installed here) or in an extensions sub-folder of the X4 folder within Documents (alongside the save folder). File verification won't necessarily affect either of these. It also won't affect copies of the game installation that have been moved out of the folder where Steam installs the game.

It was in the root folder like you mentioned.

Here's how to fix without going into the file system.

Revert back to 6.20 so you can have the game show what is still installed. Deselect all the mods and then you can update to 7.0

Also using steam to uninstall for some reason does not clear this out of your installation folder.
