Deep Silver and Egosoft announce X Superbox |
Würselen/Planegg, Germany – In a further step to enhance and broaden the enjoyment of its X games titles, Germany-based software developer, EGOSOFT, and publisher Deep Silver today announced the forthcoming release of the X Superbox.
This compendium represents the full spectrum of EGOSOFT’s endeavours over the course of its PC games development history, stretching right back to the first X-series game, X- Beyond the Frontier, chronicling the adventures of Kyle Brennan in the X Universe and bringing that Universe’s story right up to date with the very latest version of X3: Terran Conflict, for which a new set of missions, entitled ‘Balance of Power’ has been specially developed.
The X Superbox contains the most up-to-date version of all of the X-series games, which have been updated to ensure compatibility with Microsoft Windows XP (SP2), Windows Vista (SP1) and Windows 7 (32 and 64-bit). All of these titles are also provided without DRM.
In addition to all of the X-series titles, the X Superbox also contains an all-new and exclusive X Encyclopedia, written by Helge Kautz, the author of Farnham’s Legend and other X Universe books. This 300-page encyclopedia, which covers historic events and personalities in the X Universe, amongst many other items of interest, represents the ultimate reference for all avid fans of the X-series of games. EGOSOFT and Deep Silver are particularly proud to announce that the X Superbox will contain a bonus DVD that is bursting at the seams with additional content, most of which has been created and developed by players and fans of the X games, as well some other previously-unreleased exclusive bonus content added by EGOSOFT.
The community-created content includes guides, artwork, music, videos and modding tools as well as many of the most popular scripts and mods for X2: The Threat, X3: Reunion and X3: Terran Conflict. The scope and scale of this content is testament to the loyal dedication and the passion of the EGOSOFT gaming community.
The X Superbox will be available on general release in the UK, Scandinavia, Benelux, Australia, France and in the German-speaking countries on 08 October 2010. Click here to go to the EGOSOFT Online Shop and pre-order the X Superbox.

X3: Terran Conflict Hotfix 2.7.1 now Available! |
While Update 2.7 was very well received by our gaming community, a small bug causing one of the plots to stall (Operation Final Fury) was noted by a number of users. We have fixed that particular issue and took the opportunity to sort out a couple of others too. We hope that this small issue hasn't spoiled your enjoyment of the game. We're very pleased then to be able to offer this hotfix, version 2.7.1, to address that and some other issues.

X3: Reunion for Mac OS Re-released |
EGOSOFT is very pleased to announce that Virtual Programming Ltd, its Mac OS programming partner, is re-releasing X3: Reunion. VP Ltd have painstakingly re-written the game code, not using Cider this time, bringing it up-to-date with the latest version of the game. The good news for gamers that had already purchased X3: Reunion for the Mac, is that they will get this new version of the game for FREE!
EGOSOFT Managing Director, Bernd Lehahn, said about the release, "We are excited that VP ported the game a second time to improve the experience for our MAC customers and bring it to the same level as Terran Conflict."
"We weren't happy with X3: Reunion's performance when using Cider, and it turned out many of our customers weren't either," said Virtual Programming CEO Mark Hinton. "As a gesture of goodwill, we re-engineered the game as a native port that's a free update for existing customers. Starting today, new X3: Reunion customers will receive the non-Cider version of the game." Find out more about X3: Reunion for the Mac and VP Ltd here. |

X3: Terran Conflict Update 2.6 is here! |
It seems like a very long time indeed since Terran Conflict Update 2.5 arrived and for hard-core players of the game it's probably been too long! Don't worry though - the wait is now over and we can assure you that your patience will be rewarded. Every time we thought we were ready to release Update 2.6, another feature came along which was too irresistable to leave out.
Update 2.6 features the long-awaited New Home missions, which promises to be quite an adventure for those who like their THINK missions. This project has been developed by members of our own community and after a period of testing and evaluation is ready to be shared with the wider Terran Conflict-playing world. Terran Conflict Update 2.6 also brings the introduction of Steam Achievements. We have been working with our partners at Valve and Steam to bring the achievement system to Terran Conflict and once again members of our own DevNet Community have been instrumental in their development and testing. Those of you who don't play the game through Steam need not worry about being left out. With Update 2.6, we are pleased to announce that all users with a valid registration key for the DVD version of X3: Terran Conflict will be able to register with Steam and download that version of the game FOR FREE! You too will then be able to enjoy the benefits of Steam gaming, including Achievements.
One other feature that our work with STEAM has made possible will soon be available to players of that version. Although it hasn't been possible to include it in this Update, we are pleased to announce that in a coming update STEAM players will be able to choose a Dead-is-Dead gamestart, which takes advantage of STEAM technology. Keep an eye out for that!
Concurrent with the release of Update 2.6 is the long-awaited arrival of the X3: Terran Conflict Bonus Pack. This favourite fixture of previous X titles will offer some of your favourite script plugins, developed by members of the community and which have also undergone rigorous testing and our robust 'script signing process'. Among the more popular scripts to be made available in the Bonus Pack are the Commercial Agent and the Commodity Logistics Software.
Update 2.6 not only introduces new features. As is the norm, a lot of work has gone into addressing some of the issues that have been brought to our attention, such as issues with sector traders, the missing wares for sale at the Goner Temple, weapon information displays for ships with only missile turrets and also some missions have been tweaked. We have also made some improvements to graphics rendering which should give an increase in game performance.
As always we'd like to thank our loyal army of community members, testers and volunteer developers for their contribution to making this Update the success we hope it will be.

X3: Terran Conflict Update 2.6 - Coming Soon! |
We'd like to let all X-Fans know that Update 2.6 is coming very soon. An important part of that Update is the introduction of STEAM achievements for X3: Terran Conflict. In order to ensure their smooth introduction, the achievements may become visible in Steam prior to the release of the Update in order to facilitate final testing of the achievement system.
It is important to note that the achievements are not unlockable with the current version of the game.
Also we'd like to inform owners of the DVD version of X3: Terran Conflict that they will soon be able to register their existing key with STEAM to be able to download X3: Terran Conflict and start enjoying STEAM achievements once 2.6 is released.
We hope you enjoy Update 2.6 when it arrives!

Season's Greetings from Egosoft |
As 2009 draws to a close, we at Egosoft can reflect on another year of achievements and progress. This year has seen the release of X3: Terran Conflict 2.0 and further developments and improvements taking the game to version 2.5. The game has also made it successfully to the Apple Mac platform. The appetite for more Terran Conflict content among the community has been a big driver for further development of the game and members of DevNet have been central to that effort. As we move into 2010 the development of Terran Conflict will continue and further updates and great content will be available.
For now it only remains for us to thank all members of the X-Universe community for your continuing support and wish you all a very merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous New Year.

Terran Conflict 2.0 Now Available for Mac OS |
Egosoft is pleased to announce the release of X3: Terran Conflict 2.0 for the Mac OS X operating system. This version of the game has been developed for OS X by Virtual Programming Ltd, a specialist software developer for the Mac platform. Mr Mark Hinton, the VP Ltd CEO and Director of New Business, stated that every effort has been made to make sure that their customers have a gameplay experience on the Mac platform as close as possible to that on the PC which, with Terran Conflict, has been quite a challenge. Since the originally-planned release, the OS X operating system has seen the advent of the widely-acclaimed Snow Leopard update, which presented VP Ltd with further challenges in the game's development. With all challenges now overcome, VP Ltd and Egosoft welcome OS X users to the X-Universe and invite them to begin a journey of exploration, commerce and endless space adventure in the ultimate chapter in the X trilogy, taking the player from the furthest reaches of the X- Universe to Earth itself.
